During the eleventh Democratic presidential debate, Sanders outlines his consistent support of LGBTQ+ rights by noting he voted against the Defense of Marriage Act while Biden voted for it. He also notes that he has consistently voted against the Hyde Amendment – banning federal funding of abortions – while Biden has supported it. Biden responds by noting his public support of gay marriage (ahead of President Obama).
