In high school, I found out my best friend was being molested by her father. One of the reasons I wanted to be a prosecutor was to protect people like her. pic.twitter.com/R51wTtVUAo

Harris posts a web video produced by the Biden campaign where she tells the story of why she became a prosecutor. Harris explains that a childhood friend was molested by her father. She adds, “A big part of the reason I became a prosecutor was to protect people like her.” This video combats some of the criticism of Harris’ prosecutorial past by reframing her work as fighting for victims of sexual abuse and assault instead of promoting an unjust criminal justice system (as critics claimed from early on in her own bid for president).
