February 18, 2020 - Klobuchar Remarks on Being the First Woman President

At a CNN town hall, Klobuchar is asked what it says about the U.S. that they have not yet elected a woman president. She notes that Clinton did win the popular vote, but goes on to explain that she hasn’t in previous campaigns emphasized “being the first” as a reason to vote for her. She adds that is her approach in the presidential race as well. Klobuchar says, “I know it would be cool to be the first woman president, believe me, and I think a lot of women out there know exactly what I’m talking about…but I think that the story that we tell and the campaign that we run has to be more than about that. It has to be about people’s dreams.”
