June 18, 2020 - Klobuchar Withdraws from Vice Presidential Contention

In an interview with MSNBC‘s Lawrence O’Donnell, Klobuchar says: “After what I’ve seen in my state, what I’ve seen across the country, this is a historic moment and America must seize on this moment. I truly believe, as I actually told the vice president last night when I called him, that I think this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket.” She reiterates this with CBS News, saying: “I thought a lot about it, and I truly believe that this is a historic moment for our country, really in our history. And this is a moment to seize. And you have moments in history where you look back at ’em and you think, was that the right thing? And I think the right thing to do right now, and I told this to Vice President Biden, is to put a woman of color on the ticket as the next vice president of our country. I think it would be something that would help heal the United States. I think it is something that would really take what has been a tragedy, but also a galvanizing moment and turn it into a moment of joy. And I think our country is looking for that right now.”
