August 15, 2020 - Poll of Latinos Reveals Priority Issues and Presidential Preference Going Into Election 2020

A new survey from SOMOS US, UnidosUS and Latino Decisions finds that nearly 50% of Latinos (49%) and Latinas (46%) believe that responding to the coronavirus is the most important facing their community that the president and Congress should address. Issues of next highest importance to both Latinos and Latinas include lowering the costs of health care, improving wages, and creating more jobs. The same survey finds that the majority of Latinos/as support Biden in a general election matchup against Trump, with support (including leaners) slightly stronger among Latinas than Latinos. Finally, while the survey finds few gender differences in the proportions of men and women who have been contacted by party and civic organizations to encourage voter registration and participation, those data reveal that the percentage of respondents being contacted in this way is low overall.
