She the People, an organization to elevate the political voice and leadership of women of color, holds its first presidential candidate forum. Participating candidates include Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke, and Cory Booker, all of whom are asked specifically about why women of color should vote for them. As Politico writes about the forum, multiple attendees also discuss Joe Biden and express discontent with another white man being the assumed frontrunner in the Democratic primary race. Warren receives some of the greatest praise at and after the forum, and she directly addresses concerns about women’s electability. She says, “Are we gonna show up for people we didn’t actually believe in because we are too afraid to do anything else? That’s not who we are.”
